Mobile entertainment publisher Kayak Interactive and Bill Dance, America’s best known fisherman, have teamed up to create a new mobile game that allows players to compete hook, line and lure. Bill Dance Bass Fishing players can fish anywhere, whether they are in the airport, the local coffee shop or a row boat. Snow, wind or heavy rain can’t deter them from making the bass catch of the day and comparing it to their competitors’ catch.

InfoSpace Signs Agreement to Acquire Mobile Games Company Elkware GmbH
InfoSpace, Inc. today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Elkware GmbH, a German mobile games company, for approximately $26 million payable in cash. In the three months ended September 30, 2004, Elkware generated approximately $1 million in revenue. The transaction is expected to close in early January 2005.

Colin McRae Rally drives onto N-Gage
Nokia announced a new title for the N-Gage, Colin McRae Rally 2005. The game is in the process of hitting retail shelves. Published by Codemasters, the game features multiplayer races over the hybrid cell phone/game machine's wireless Bluetooth connection. In total, the title contains 16 different licensed cars and 64 rally stages across eight different countries. Square Enix hints at mobile plans for Final Fantasy
Yesterday at the CTIA trade show, a high-ranking member of Square Enix's North American team commented on the company's blueprint for rolling out mobile products--specifically, Final Fantasy XI and Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII--in the United States.
Chris Ruff, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at UIEvolution, a technology company recently acquired by Square Enix, confirmed that Square Enix was indeed considering North American releases of their mobile Final Fantasy products. "We'll bring Final Fantasy and Before Crisis here when the technology is ready," said Ruff, adding that the present timeframe was nine months to a year.

Konami partners with Takara for mobile games
Japanese game publishers Konami and Takara announced today that they have joined forces to release Konami's mobile phone games in Asian countries outside of Japan. The first game to come out of the deal will be a dog-breeding simulation game based on Takara's popular dog-barking translation device, called Bow-lingual.
Later in the year, Takara will release a board game for mobile phones where the object is to become the richest player in the game. The titles will be available for download on FarEasTone Telecommunications' Super i-style in Hong Kong, and SmarTone Mobile Communications' SmarTone 'in' in Hong Kong and Macao.
Konami currently has mobile content distribution routes in 21 countries, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, North America, and the UK.

Eidos' Crash 'n' Burn coming to mobile phones
A mobile phone version of Eidos' upcoming PlayStation 2 and Xbox driving game Crash 'n' Burn, will be released simultaneously with the console versions, Eidos and development partner Macrospace announced today. Called Crash 'n' Burn Turbo, the title will be available for Java, BREW, and i-mode phones. Like the console versions, the game will allow players to personalize their cars before taking to the streets on a variety of different racing circuits. All three versions of the title will ship in November.
